Pop Art Socks
Pop Art materialised in New York and London during the mid-1950s and became the dominant avant-garde style until the late 1960s. It's widely considered to be the offspring of Dadaism given the satirical stance it takes on the established art world by appropriating images from the street, supermarket, mass media, and presenting them as art in itself. The work is characterised by bold compositions of everyday imagery - heavily dependent on tv and movie culture - with vibrant colours. It had a trendy 'now' feel to it that blurred the line between the commercial arts and the fine arts.
