The early incarnation of Criminally Insane Crew arguably never reached the heights of its All City counterpart along the Frankston line and beyond. But through the years, CI attained a legendary status of its own. This book captures the evolving history of the dynamic graffiti scene that exploded seemingly overnight in Melbourne's south-east.

The style evolution of MESK, his encouragement of those he deemed worthy of membership in the revitalised 1993 version of the crew is demonstrated in the iconic works of writers such as SHOUT, JEDS, SKELPER, SKUFLE, DIPHER, COUPE and NAPIE. These were writers whose trailblazing methods and styles furthered the name CI. It also tells the story of how, in another wave of regeneration younger members such as TRANCE, RENKS, FRAME, ULCER, MEANT and WUZ took CI into the new millenium and ensured the crew's everlasting impact on Melbourne graffiti history.
